Operating Units

A unique identifier for an internal organizational unit (Business Unit, Department, Cost Center, etc.). It serves as the primary key for identifying this specific operating unit across all modules and transactions within D365 F&O, ensuring distinct reference and reporting.

The full, descriptive name of the operating unit, used for display in user interfaces, reports, and for easier identification by users. This name should clearly articulate the function or scope of the organizational unit.

Classifies the operating unit by its primary function within the organization, such as a Business Unit, Department, Cost Center, Value Stream, or Team. This type influences how the operating unit can be used in organizational hierarchies, financial dimensions, and workflows.

The identifier of the legal entity that primarily owns, manages, or is responsible for this operating unit. Although operating units are global, this field specifies their primary affiliation within the legal entity structure for certain reporting or operational contexts, especially during initial setup or association.

The legal entity identifier representing the data partition or company context within which the data entity operates. For global entities like Operating Units, this field typically defaults to the legal entity active during the import process. It's often redundant with `LegalEntity` for single-company imports but crucial for multi-company packages.
